Coco Mini named one of the top things to do this weekend

Well, this is a fun one to write. The Palm Beach Post just named Coco Mini × SmartyPlants one of the five things to do this weekend in Palm Beach County — right up there in the paper’s weekly roundup of what’s worth leaving the house for. For a brand-new gathering held in a plant nursery in Lake Worth Beach, sharing a top-five list with the county’s museums, festivals, and big-ticket events feels pretty good.

If you’ve already been following along, you know what Coco Mini is. If the Post’s mention is the first you’re hearing of it — welcome. Here’s everything you need to know before Sunday.

Wait — what is Coco Mini?

Coco Mini is an intimate, garden-set spin on Coco Market, the beloved community wellness market you may know from its Delray Beach gatherings. This summer, Coco Market teamed up with SmartyPlants to bring a smaller, cozier version of the market into our nursery — tucking vendors, music, and movement between the plant tables and under the trees.

Each Coco Mini runs 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the third Sunday of the month, and the formula is simple and lovely: a morning of opening movement, ten to twelve curated local vendors, live acoustic music, a hands-on plant workshop, and a closing sound bath to send everyone home lighter than they arrived. It’s free, it’s open to all ages, and it happens rain or shine.

The series unfolds in three chapters — Root on July 19, Branch on August 16, and Bloom on September 20. Root, the first gathering, is the one the Post is pointing everyone to this weekend.

Why the buzz?

We think it comes down to the setting. Palm Beach County has no shortage of markets, and no shortage of wellness events — but a market woven through a working plant nursery is something different. You browse handmade goods with a monstera looking over your shoulder. You do your morning stretch on the grass between fruit trees. The workshop table is twenty feet from the plants you’ll take home.

Coco Market built its following on exactly this kind of intentional, community-first gathering, and pairing it with our garden made something that’s genuinely new for the area. The Post’s editors clearly agreed — and coverage hasn’t stopped there. Palm Beach Illustrated also featured the series when it launched, calling out the yoga, live music, plant workshop, and curated local vendors that make up the morning.

Not bad for a gathering whose whole pitch is “come slow down with us in a garden.”

What to expect at Root this Sunday

Root is the first of the three gatherings, and the name is the theme: putting down roots — for the series, for the community around it, and quite literally for the plants that’ll go home with you. The morning starts with opening movement at 9 a.m., and from there you can wander at your own pace.

Expect ten to twelve local makers and growers, live acoustic music drifting through the nursery, and a hands-on plant workshop where you’ll get your fingers in the soil. The closing sound bath wraps the morning around noon-thirty. Come for an hour or stay for all four — there’s no schedule you have to keep.

A few practical notes: it’s free, no ticket needed, though you can register at cocomarket.org if you like a calendar invite. Dress for a Florida July morning — light layers, comfy shoes, maybe a hat. The cafe will be pouring coffee, and yes, the whole nursery is open, so you can shop plants while you’re here. One trip. Done.
